XII by MitchellLazear XII by MitchellLazear
This chart displays twelve lists containing twelve items within each and the relationships between them. It is, as a co-worker described, "An Orgy of Nonsense". It's purpose is to illustrate the coincidence or relationships between several common lists or systems that contain twelve items or sections.

1. RGB Additive Color Model
(The colors are aligned with the hue values of the degrees of arc in HSL and HSV color systems)

2. CMYK Subtractive Color Model
(The CMYK Model is aligned to be complimentary to the RGB Model)

3. The Twelve Olympians
The principal gods of the Greek pantheon, residing atop Mount Olympus.

4. The Twelve Tribes of Israel
The descendants of the Biblical patriarch Jacob.

5. The Twelve Apostles
Missionaries among the leaders in the Early Church.

6.The Twelve Imams
The spiritual and political successors to Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam.

7. Months of the Gregorian Calendar
The internationally accepted civil calendar.
(The months are aligned with the RGB Additive Color Model with the Summer Solstice towards the warm hues and the Winter Solstice towards the cool hues)

8. Hours of a 12-Hour Clock

9. Degrees of Arc

10. Musical Notes
The chromatic scale is a musical scale with twelve pitches, each a semitone or half step apart.

11. Signs of the Western Zodiac
The zodiac is the belt or band of constellations through which the Sun, Moon, and planets move on their journey across the sky.
(The zodiacal signs are aligned with the corresponding dates on the calendar)

12. Signs of the Chinese Zodiac
A scheme that relates each year to an animal and its reputed attributes, according to a 12-year cycle.
(The Chinese zodiacal signs are aligned with the corresponding dates on the Chinese lunar calendar)

The Shape in the middle is a Dodecagram, a star polygon with twelve vertices.

This is an updated version of Color Wheel from 2008.

Made with Photoshop and Illustrator CS4.
